FAQs

What is Cremation?

Cremation is a process in which intense heat is used to transform the body back to its basic elements.  What remains in the cremation chamber is primarily bone fragments.  The bone is then processed into ashes, more commonly know as cremains or remains.

How long does the cremation process take and when will I receive my pet's remains?

Wasatch Family Pet Services makes every effort to have your pets remains returned to you as quickly as possible.  Generally, we are 7-10 days from the date of pickup/drop-off.   Additional time may be needed based upon the urn you choose and/or any custom engraving is to be done to the urn.  Your pet's remains will be returned to your veterinarian, or if dropped off directly to us we will have you pick them up from our facility.  Appointments are preferred.  Please call us with any special requests or questions.  We have, and will be happy to accommodate immediate needs as well.

Can we pre-plan?

Yes. This is recommended and is easier to deal with prior to your pets passing. Arrangements can be made by contacting your local veterinary hospital or reaching out to our team to make a pre planning appointment.

How do I know the remains returned to me are actually my pet?

We at Wasatch Family Pet Services believe every pet and owner deserve this security without the added trauma of having to view the cremation. In order to ensure that your pet is treated with the utmost care, all of our animals are tagged and tracked through the entire process.  The same tag will identify the animal throughout the process and will be attached to the bottom of the urn of your choice.  An animal can be issued a metal identification disc upon request of the owner. Your pet's identification disc would remain with the body during the cremation process and is packaged along with the ashes inside of the urn.  We understand that your pet is a member of your family and deserves the very best.

In what type of container will my pet's remains be returned?

Each cremation that the pet remains are to returned to the pet owner, is placed in an attractive cedar box enclosed within a satin bag.  We offer many other premium urns and can get any memorial product that you have found, usually at discount prices.
